Maggard Safety Razors are cheap and highly recommended for beginners. I strongly recommend this starter kit. The Parker 26C is exceptionally comfortable (disinclined to nick) and efficient, and at $29 is not out of sight. MOST shavettes just take a normal double edge blade cut/snapped in half, but some shavettes take special blades. Unless you're dropping 100+ dollars on a Feather shavette, normal DE blades should be fine. Yea I normally use a DE. I have been using it for a while and get good shaves.
