You have Fire, Cold, Electricity and Toxic damage, and any 2 of those can combine based on the order of your mods. For example if you have Fire, cold and then toxic in your weapon in that order it will deal blast damage (fire + cold) and toxic damage. The wiki has better explanations about that system though.
