I bought some parts from MEC when I rebuilt my 600 Jr. from the early 70's, and when I recently replaced the collet. Iuvat forte paratus. Wipe the dirt off and oil the parts that move with the exception of the charge bar and the hinge where the top folds back. They do not need any lubrication. The charge bar needs to be clean and if you lube it at all, a little graphite or silicon spray will do the trick. The 600 Jr is about as simple as it gets.These loads toss a traditional payload of 1-1/8 ounce shot and come to market in three versions: Light (~1145 fps), Heavy (~1200 fps) and Handicap (~1235 to 1255 fps). I bought an old mec 600jr and would certainly like to know what model it is!It is meant to be used without either rubber or brass washers. It does provide a good seal and does cut down on dribble with fine grained powders. It is about two inches long with threads on each end. Die Conversion Kits for Mec 600 Jr. I have an old (pre 82) Mec 600 Jr in 12 gauge that I'd like to convert to 20 gauge. Looking at the parts list on Mec's website the conversion kit is slightly more than $100 (might as well buy new for that price) for this model. The conversion kit they list for the Mark V is $80ish.

Bumping up your payload with the same powder charge might be asking for trouble. It doesn't take much to exceed shotgun pressure limits of 11,500 psi for 12 gauge. If the load isn't a "book" load, don't shoot it.
