After taking the lower half off my others all have inner threads in the center where you run a forcing bolt into and it pushed against the crank to remove the clutch.

Originally, the 12 (2 cycle) and 14 (4 cycle) were made with the older style walk behind mower deck from John Deere.To replace the belt on that mower you must first disconnect the spark plug. Remove the blade and the center bolt that holds the blade clutch on. Remove the 3 bolts that hold the engine on. Remove the engine and install the new belt. Reverse the directions for reassembly. CJ. Here in the shop I use an impact gun to remove it.
