Not sure if your screen is just black, try pressing all three ctrl + alt + delete buttons to see if your screen is active and will give you the option to force shut down. Try a power drain. Remove the adapter and the battery and hold the power button down for 60 seconds. Plug the adapter back in (not battery) and test.
