In searching another rimfire forum I think the answer is for rifles made after 2000 the first two digits of the serial number are subtracted from 2100 to fine the date, making my rifle a 2003 manufacture (last year made). Mine says No. 064xx on the top tang. With the large number made they were in the catalog for several years.
