When assembling the slide on the 1911 centerfire, the guide rod easily slides past that bevelling. and it will stop on its seat in the frame. However, the GSG guide rod could (and many times WILL) stop on. the sharp step of the barrel and will not reach its rest in the frame. So, this can happen in the GSG:
