There's only west coast servers because that's where the host is located. West vs East doesn't really do anything because give one side worse connection. I wish they had chosen a more central location but it is what it is. Well, no. When SE talks about Data Centres, they don't mean physically distinct DCs. A DC in FFXIV terms is a ring-fenced, isolated infrastructure environment. They may be physically within the same cage, but they are logically distinct entities. They exist for capacity management and load balancing issues.
