Former Team Lead here. This is incorrect. If you use enough to cover half your shift you get half a point, if you use enough for your entire shift you get ZERO points. It being an event date does not matter when using PPTO. In fact I just used 4 hours of PPTO on Christmas Eve and was only given half a point.
Ppto is designed to be used AFTER you miss time. Never before. Pto is for scheduling times off in advance so you get paid and not scheduled to come in. Ppto is for those "I need to call in today/gunna be late/gotta leave early" situations. You have 7 days to put it in and it's automatically approved when you do.
