It depends on the type of ammo you wanna use. You pretty much always want free element/ammo up on all bow gun builds. Other than that try to get spare shot and then buff up the ammo type ur using (e.g. normal ammo up or boosting your specific element) But yeah lbg was kind of shafted in high rank and is pretty hard to make effective.Daora lbg with full valstrax armour and normal 3 is pretty nice. 100 plus damage on head when valtrax dragon heart activates and with silkbind attack up buff. Even more if you have red health. Its pretty easy to play too since you dont have to switch ammo much. Use the daora soul ramp up skill too.

Best LBG not considering elements is most likely going to be the Narga LBG. It outclasses the Barroth one when fully upgraded. Not only does it have awesome raw but it has a 2 slot deco and like 40% affinity naturally. The only lbg that MIGHT beat it is the Wind Serpent one since it can rapid Shrapnel 2. BUT I also have a fully decked out pierce build with the Narga LBG now at end game. My shrapnel build on the test dummy does about half as much damage (a little over 100 for one rapid "burst" where the pierce does around 190).
