I have seen excessive wear in different engines when people used 15w-40. no expierence with 10w40 but if it would be me i would stick to 10w-30. I pulled the dipstick to see the color first and man was it overfilled. I went to Kohler's website and checked the specs for capacity and it said 1.6qts. I drained the old oil, replaced filter and added about 1.2qts. The level is about 1 1/2" over the full mark on the dipstick!!!!
