I would just replace the whole overflow tank and cap in case the tank warped. The water pump is pushing water around and it's also heating up/expanding. Coolant reservoir being empty isn't terribly surprising or a key indicator by itself. Coolant coming out of overflow. Well I got everything back together on my 03 Edge today. I let it idle and warm up. Its runs great and idles just fine. But once its warmed up coolant starts to come out the over flow. It just had a fresh rebuild so the headgaskets should be fine.
