Assuming that you don't have a 5th wire run in the wall that was just never connected, Ecobee provides what they call their PEK (power extender kit) in the box. You interpose it with the 4 existing wires at your furnace and the 5th C wire and it passes all the signals it needs through them.

Power Extender Kit Functions. In order to provide them with continuous power, every smart thermostat needs a C wire (or common wire). With the C wire completing the circuit, it allows constant 24VAC power to flow from the R wire.
