It looks like I can just screw the new midgate box in using the hinges from the factory midgate. I'm only planning on putting 3 JL10W3's in the midgate so weight shouldn't be a problem because the factory midgate is really heavy.

Apr 5, 2003 · Well, here is the box I designed and built that allows for full midgate functionality. It is permanately installed and does not have to be removed to use the midgate. Removal would require unbolting the rear seat and lifting it up to get it out, "good theft prevention." I used a JL Audio 8" subwoofer, I believe it is a 8W0 model, 4 ohm. I have a pair of Border Collies that love to go for rides. So the back seat is typically down to save the upholstery, and the midgate down to give them a bit more room to spread out.
