Just an idea: since also scratches can infect you and if youre not willing to pray for 2 days to see if you got infected or not you can change in the sandbox settings infection time to 0-1 minutes so as soon as you got hit by something you can see if you got infected or not. If you do not want to restart, there is a mod that let you change the sandbox setting (assuming you play sandbox). Otherwise there is a few "cheat" mod, or simply add -debug to the game launch option (steam), and heal yourself. Typing sandbox or cheat in teh workshop research will let you find them easily.
