If you're primarily going support, you could just go single class, as that will allow you to get more powerful chants and invocations sooner. However, if you're looking to multiclass, mixing Chanter with Paladin or Ranger could be very helpful. There is two more paladin subclasses other than bleak walkers which is working very well in a sniper build. FoD working as ranged too and can heal when used. You can mark all mobs with sworn rival for more damage (and defense) and will regain regain all of your zeals then mobs dies. Maybe he will take a bit more time to kill stuff - but he will finish the job very reliably and can also crack the really tough nuts. Maybe he's not rushing from squishy-kill to squishy-kill like a Monk/Rogue would do but often that's only cool but not necessary ("winning more").

Without them your attack speed is painfully slow and Pierce immune mobs are real pain in the butt.

After playing and doing a bit more research it seems the Flames of devotion works better with dual wielding because of the full attack, it gets 2 hits while buffed.
