Whenever we get dream of the nioh and the abyss ...certain weapons will outshine others but if your decent at the game + have decent build to complement it. I think you can make anything work. Those two weapons have great synergy (except possibly with scaling), since spear is long range heavy hits, and kusa is short range rapid hits.
