Isle of Palms is closer to downtown Charleston, as is Folly Beach, but neither of them compares to Kiawah as far as natural beauty. The problem is--it's very expensive. 6. Arguably more history right here than in the adjacent states, altho they do have history as well. Look at a map to see the area. Spring and President is not safe to be walking along; you're probably OK inside a locked house. Spring and King would be worse. I don't know how guests access the Hyatt property there at the corner when the police are limiting traffic routes. Prior to moving here, we would usually spend 8 days, 7 nights. We always had a rental car though. So much to do and see in the area.
