The P0420 code means there is an issuie with the catalytic converter on bank 1. This can cause stalling, but in most cases won't.

I have a 2005 Xterra and I am having problem diagnosing the issues. First I have four dash board lights on, and they are ABS, VDC,SLIP and the Check Engine. Secondly, the rear tires are dragging when reversing or turning. I took it to AutoZone and used their scanner and received code P0420 and P0430 - Catalytic converter system.
GJBenn85. My QX is my third Infiniti and every single one has occasionally had a problem where the VDC/SLIP/BRAKE lights come on. It is extremely common the FX. The owner's manual says they come on when a fault is detected with the ABS, but I have not had any problems with the brakes on any of the cars.

Vehicle: 2011 Nissan Xterra Pro-4x (35k total miles) with lift and 295 tires. Have had lift and tires now about 30k no issues. When I start the Xterra I have the "Diff lock" and "VDC off" lights. As soon as I turn my wheel (about 45-90 degrees) the "diff lock" light turns off. Then the ABS, VDC Off, SLIP lights turn on.

Put the original Brake switch back in. Then after 15 mins of the negative battery being left off, then connect and see if that clears it up. Ask Your Own Nissan Question.
