King UGS utterly destroyed Fume Knight at NG+4, every hit was causing 830 damage or so, with no buffs, just pure strength and strike damage, the official DS2 PvE fucker (because you know, not beating the same dead horse but at least 75% of the enemies are dudes in armor).The Red Rust Sword, which can be acquired at the same time as the shield, is also a very good strength weapon. The Craftsman's Hammer, another Bastille item, is a good choice of hammer, but not the best. The Mace is better. For the very early game, either the Mace or a Longsword/Broadsword are your best options.
